Daydreams by Emilia - A Yarn and Colors Collection

It was in the middle if the summer. I had the summer off from university and had a lot of time to focus on crocheting, designing and writing patterns. The perfect time to start a larger project! I came into contact with the team over at Yarn and Colors and we decided that my next project would be my very own crochet fashion lookbook. I jumped up and down from joy - it was like a dream coming true.

I had been working with Yarn and Colors during the spring, releasing the Spring Flowers Tee for their Baby Fabulous lookbook. I remember that I thought to myself that it would be great to one day have my own lookbook, never would I thought that the opportunity would present itself this soon.

The garments are made to look as different to each other as possible but still have my minimalistic Scandinavian style mixed up with color and fun elements.

We discussed a lot about different yarns and colors to use. With so many great options I had a hard time to choose!

After some discussions we narrowed it down to 4 colors: satay, limestone, rosé and mustard and 4 different yarns: Serene, Zen, Cheerful and Baby Fabulous.

What is great about it that there are still many options for you to choose between color wise if you prefer another combination! I mean imagine these in olive, cream, burgundy or shark grey?

The Morning Glory Cardigan

The Morning Glory Cardigan

I knew I wanted to begin the designing with Cheerful and to make a long cardigan from it. I felt nostalgic and wanted to recreate some of the elements and the feeling I had designing my very first pattern - the Rose Dust Sweater. Somehow it always reminds me of Yarn and Colors since their Charming yarn is a great yarn substitute for it that I constantly recommend. Slowly the idea for the Morning Glory Cardigan was born.

It is a long cozy cardigan with hidden pockets and a bulky nice yarn that makes it fairly quick to make. The texture from the granite stitch (aka moss or linen stitch) makes it interesting and beautiful to look at. Inspired by the cold mornings in the in-laws summer house I wanted a perfect layering piece to wear while having a cup of coffee outside in the morning.

The Afternoon Tea Cardigan

The Afternoon Tea Cardigan

The Afternoon Tea Cardigan is inspired by my afternoon breaks. Especially those I have on Saturdays. Every Saturday I go to a local bakery to buy a bun or a piece of cake. We do it as a nice walk with my husband and then set the table for a nice little break where we talk and hang out. I wanted a garment that adds to the mood - the Afternoon Tea Cardigan was born.

It is nice and comfortable to wear, but also elegant and pretty. A bit of luxury that brightens the day.

The Sunrise Sweater

The Sunrise Sweater

The Sunrise Sweater is inspired by the time spent in the summer cottage. It is a wooden cottage in the middle of the forest and I knew I wanted to capture this raw feeling and the typical nordic design elements.

With a contrasting color to a neutral base it reminds me of the sun rising over the horizon. One of my favourite things to watch and something I’ve wanted to capture in a design for a long time. Or make it in one color and have a sweater that is neutral and minimalistic with interesting details.

By now you’ve probably guessed that a big inspiration for this collection has been different times of days and different types of occasions during the day.

I’ve tried to make a collection of item that works very well both at home and out. So that you feel that it is items that it worth spending the time to crochet, especially since we all are at home quite a lot these days. The items are wearable and durable!

The Brunch Time Sweater

The Brunch Time Sweater

The Brunch Time Sweater is the sweater I’ve always wanted. It is the type of sweater that goes to almost every occasion. It is classic, simple, elegant and easy to make.

The difference in length on the back section and front section gives a nice touch and the ribbing stitch is so fun to crochet.

Pair it with jeans and some sneakers and set out for brunch!

The final piece in the collection is the Sunset Stripes Pullover. Bring on color! Worked bottom up it is an easy sweater to crochet and the perfect place to start if you’ve want to try crocheting a garment in many colors. The Zen yarn gives and interesting structure and feel to the sweater and is easy to crochet with.
