Ocean Waves Top
It was snowing outside and I’ve just received my order of spring / summer yarns. It felt surreal to start thinking of spring and summer designs with all the snow outside the window. Luckily I’ve had this idea for a top for a long time and now I had the perfect yarn to make it in. I decide to use a yarn made out of 100% sugar. The yarn has a beautiful glow and it is so soft. I got it in two beautiful colors. A neutral soft grey and a vibrant burnt orange. After making my gauge swatch with different hook sizes I decide to go for the 3.5 mm (E-4) hook and start to plan my design.
Working it up the light grey reminded me of the beautiful grey the ocean has in the winter. The ruffles made me think about waves and I decide to call it “the Ocean Waves Top”.
The Ocean Waves Top is made from down up mainly in the round. It requires minimal sewing and you’ll end the project by adding the ruffles. The project is easy to make and you’ll get into the rhythm working half double crochets in the round and it can easily be done while watching tv or listening to an audiobook. The perfect mindless crocheting. When you reach the shoulders the interesting part begins and you get to focus on your project an enjoy a nice time of crocheting and maybe a cup of coffee. The ruffles are a fun addition and fun to make.
The pattern is available in six sizes and recommended yarn is Lana Gatto Sugar or any DK weight yarn you’d like. Maybe cotton?
