Crochet Foundry Summer 2021 Issue - a review
So today is the day - the summer issue of Crochet Foundry magazine just released and my friends at Furls Crochet sent me a copy of the issue for review! I am so excited about this. I’ve been following the magazine since the start and I’ve always been so impressed by the lovely crochet garments they produce issue after issue.
The issue includes 9 size inclusive crochet patterns for women and this issue’s patterns are all perfect for summer. With a wide variety of patterns from sweater to a skirt to a shawl I am sure you’ll be able to find a pattern that is just perfect for your preferences!

So what is Crochet Foundry Magazine? - As described on their website:
Summer 2021 Issue
So with no further due, let’s dig in to the issue at hand. My first impression of the magazine is that it is well planned and thought out.
The layout is clear and you can easily navigate between the pages and patterns. The patterns in themselves are clearly formatted and easy to read.
They include detailed schematics and some of the patterns includes stitch charts, to help with lace parts of the patterns.
A fun detail is that between the patterns you find a recipe for a summer treat that matches the pattern you’ve just seen! That way you can make a nice treat to have next to you while you crochet.
The magazine has been made with hooks from Furls Crochet and yarns supported by WeCrochet.
If you are looking for to make any of the patterns I do recommend you take advantage of WeCrochet’s Summer Sale currently ongoing. Look for these yarns:
The Patterns
The Flounce Top
Designed by Liliana Buce this top must be one of my personal favourites. That is probably no surprise for many of you , after my Lumous Puff Sleeve Tee. Using Carpetta Superwash which is a bend of wool, cashmere and nylon I am sure this top is really soft to wear.
Lollipop Summer Cardigan
Designed by Briana Kepner using Comfy Cotton Fingering this cute little cardigan looks like it is very wearable for many occasions. I am sure the style guide that you can buy separately with the issue gives you options on how to style it.
Boho Pineapple Wrap
Designed by Briana Kepner for the more intermediate advanced crocheter. Using a Furls Whims DK yarn sand the pattern includes a video tutorial! That is always a nice extra feature, which opens it up for crocheters that want to advance their skills. Nice!
Coconut Cupcake Cover Up
Designed by April Gopwani in the lace weight yarn Curio #3 . A beautiful beach cover-up!
Nonpareils
Designed by Lorene Eppolite in Paragon Sport Yarn this beautiful top has interesting stitch details and a nice square neckline.
Perfect Parfait Tank Top
Designed by Ashlea Konecny using Comfy Fingering. I love the layers of this! It’s brillant!
Vanilla Frosted Skirt
Pamela Stark has designed this skirt using Paragon which is a sport weight yarn blend of merino wool, baby alpaca and mulberry silk. That’s luxury if something!
Vanilla Dreamboat Top
Designed by Crystalized Designs using Superwash Capretta it is a supercute summer top!
Gum Drop Pullover
Designed by Michelle Moore using the cute speckled yarn Hawthorne Speckle Hand Painted, this sweater is a fresh addition to your summer wardrobe.
After reading through the issue - I can only say: Wow! Great job ladies! What a great variety of patterns. Both for different styles and skill levels. The cute feature where you are showing yarn options for different budgets is great. Everything about it goes to show that you’ve really trying to reach a broad spectrum and want the patterns to be fit as many as possible. It is an inclusive issue in so many ways!
Extra features as a style guide and customize guide are great additions to the issue. My only wish is that they where included in the issue from the beginning. Cause that is the thing. It is a great collection of patterns, but I wish some additions and text to make it feel like a magazine, which I think these guides would help with. Overall it is a great collection of summer patterns! Since I am planning to have some summer vacation this year, I am very likely to spend it crocheting one of these patterns. Can you guess which one?
Happy Summer and Happy Making!
