How to Crochet - The Herringbone Double Crochet Stitch
I just love textured crochet stitches. They are such an easy way to make a simple sweater/cardigan look interesting. So you can make an easy construction on the garment but still that little extra cause of the stitch. Of course you can use the stitch also for more advanced projects. But for me it is often all about making a modern fashionable garment as easy as possible, and then textured stitches works great. I usually want the easy project cause I rather just relax and crochet than count, but that is just my preference.
This post
In this post we will go through how to make the herringbone double crochet stitch. This stitch is used in my Oatfield Cardigan and will definitely be used in many more of my designs. It is just so fun to make! We will go through how to make it and the post also tells how you start using it, so that you can use it for any project or ideas you might have. It is perfect also for blankets since it is reversible.
Swatching
To try out the stitch you only need a hook and some yarn. If you’d like to make the swatch for the Oatfield Cardigan, then you’ll need:
Yarn: Tweed Delight from Hobbii Yarn (85% Wool, 10% Acrylic, 5% Viscose), 109 yds (100 m) per 50-g skein
or other Aran / Worsted / 10 ply / 9 wpi / 4-weight yarn as long as you meet gauge.
Crochet Hook: US H-8 (5 mm)
